I Can’t begin to tell you how often (weekly) I say something I shouldn’t, or on the flip side, don’t say something when I should. Its so much easier to type my feelings or concerns into a blog like this. This post will be in a question and answer format, and you can answer these questions in the comfort of your home, or leave a comment.
Q1. Can friendships be sustained by writing like this?
Q2. Can this kind of friendship be counted on when you need it the most?
Q3. Is an online friendship less threatening?
Q4. Do you have more online friends than local friends?
This is certainly the case with me! But Facebook makes it too easy to click friend as opposed to acquaintance. Again that distance thing makes it all too easy to “check in” as infrequently as you want. Sure I can link things to FB, and they will auto-post for me to my page. Just like this WordPress Blog does. Or Twitter, Pinterest, and a thousand other programs that link to FB. Or maybe this is the only way for you to have friends? Judy Endow comes to mind, and how she posts many times a week to keep in touch. She has many valuable insights, and I hope all of you have liked her on FB.
Q5. How many programs link to your FB account?
Q6. Does this create more distance between you and your real friends?
Q7. How many private chats do you have with friends via Messenger or other chat service?
This is the reality of our ever-changing world.
Q8. Did you know that you can make free calls via Messenger?
Q9. How many of your friends have used this feature?
My sister in Australia has done this with me, quality is quite good, but dropped calls do happen rarely. Just make sure you are in Messenger, and that they are available by sending a chat or text through FB or email client.
Q10. Are you
A. A parent with a child on the Spectrum,
B. You are on the Spectrum,
C. Know someone on the Spectrum, or
D. A Support Provider.
This will help me fine tune how and what I write about in my WordPress blog.
If you want a news summary that is mostly related to Autism, I have a public spreadsheet that is available to anyone who has the link. Click here if you are interested. Keep in mind the views expressed in this Blog are my own. I have given proper citation for where those spreadsheet links go to. Normally they go directly to the post, and there won’t be any doubt as to the source.
I’m sending this to a slightly wider audience with this post; if you are interested in this WordPress Blog, make sure you follow! If not just delete this email and you won’t be bothered again (at least for a while).
For those of you in the Ausome Adults Group, you could print this and bring it to our meeting on July 15 if you’d like to discuss. Sorry I couldn’t make it to the picnic yesterday, I had a conflict which precluded from attending. Hope to see you on July 15.
