Does this argument hold water? Once this study was broadened to include more androgens and their effects on the developing fetus. It would appear there might be some connection. Keep in mind there are four different forms of estrogen:
Estriol, Estradiol, Estrone, and Estetrol
And each of these has a different effect on brain development of the fetus. The first three do have some connection to autism, especially estradiol. But does it cause it? The jury is still out on this one, because there’s still more interplay with other factors beyond these Estrogens.
I hope this helps grow our understanding of autism, and the multiple factors that can contribute to it. Perhaps there is some unknown connection between estrogens, Mercury which is a neurotoxin, and some other environmental factors or chemicals.
